QRL Operations and Structure
Quality Retirement Living is engaged in the business of providing home
style apartment residences for the seniors markets. Managing Director, Karen Yatabe, RN,
M.Ed. has been involved with the seniors industry for over 20 years. Karen was wholly
responsible for the complete set up and opening of a large number of Long Term Care
facilities located throughout the GTA. QRL's corporate structure begins with a Board of
Directors who are supported by an Operational Advisory Committee and Finance Committee.
Sitting on the Operational Advisory Committee, seasoned veterans within
the seniors industry have been selected to identify and recommend best practices for
quality retirement living. Within this group QRL has access to the skills of a VP of Human
Resources & Labour Relations, a Director of Quality Control, a Marketing Consultant, a
Director of Operations and a VP of Finance among others.
Working through Joint Venture Agreements, QRL is teamed up with a seasoned
real estate developer and together with land owners, seed capital investors, equity
investors, architects, contractors and financial institutions, continue to acquire,
design, implement, build, finance and operate a portfolio of Seniors Assisted Living
Facilities.
Facilities currently under development include projects in Oshawa, Thunder
Bay (Isabella), Richmond Hill (Oak Ridges), Listowel (Wyndham Way) and Owen Sound
(Markdale).
In this Portfolio of 6 Seniors Developments, a total of 539 seniors
apartments will be created over the next 5 years.
Each development project, through an independent Joint Venture Agreement,
creates a distinct legal entity for the facilities. Each of the key parties brings to the
table a specific set of key attributes, and through a joint venture structure, commits to
completely building and operating the portfolio of Seniors Assisted Living Properties.
Type Of Facilities
The Seniors Assisted Living Facilities range in size from a 68 unit
building to a 94 unit complex. Buildings are generally 3 to 4 stories tall, have tenant
Elevators, a grand foyer, a common dining room, social and activity rooms, administration
and amenity areas.
The individual seniors apartments consist of private bathrooms,
bedrooms, kitchenettes and ensuite storage rooms. Each room is architecturally,
mechanically and electrically designed to provide a very comfortable setting with generous
window openings and open space concepts.
The Seniors Residents are provided with daily meals, activities and
nursing assistance if required. Full time staff is provided around the clock to be with
the residents.
